Wireless Phone Charging Available in 2013 Avalon

Hate hassling with wires when you are trying to charge your phone in the car? Well now with the 2013 Avalon’s wireless inductive charging mat, you don’t have to! The all-new Avalon will feature a mat that will charge Qi-enabled phones without annoying chords, the first vehicle in the world to do so.

Phone ChargingQi technology is revolutionizing the way we now charge our phones. Regardless of brand or manufacturer, any phone that features the Qi system can be charged just by being placed on or near a Qi wireless charging pad. The charging pad will be located in the Avalon’s center console lid. A switch will turn on the system to allow charging whenever the phone is placed on the high-friction surface.

“Pioneering the ability to charge with no wires or connectors by simply putting devices in the car console is an intuitive innovation which reflects Toyota’s continuing commitment to improve the customer experience,” explained chief engineer of Toyota Avalon, Randy Stephens. “We see wireless charging as an important feature that helps enhance the high-technology theme and consumer interface offered by Avalon Limited.”
