A Muppets Joyride: Toyota’s 2014 Super Bowl Commercial

Toyota Super Bowl Ad 2014

From an all-purple dressed Kaley Cuoco to a Chihuahua in a beret to the all-new RAV4, last year’s Toyota Super Bowl commercial was a hit. Since probably half of the people watching the Super Bowl only care about the commercials, it is no surprise that people are eager to see what Toyota has up its sleeve this year.

Enter the unlikely duo of the Muppets and Terry Crews, Star of FOX’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and former NLF player. Throw in the new Toyota Highlander and the commercial is complete. Confused? Allow us to elaborate.

When Crews comes across a broken down bus while driving in his Highlander, he graciously offers his help to the unfortunate travelers. Things quickly get out of hand, however, when a mob of Muppets appear and take over Crews’ all-new Highlander. Thanks to its spacious and accommodating interior though, all the Muppets fit in just fine.

But there isn’t room for something: Boring. The Muppets show an uptight Crews that the Highlander is meant for fun and when you reach the end of the commercial, I think we can all agree Crews breaks out of his shell and embraces the “No Room for Boring” attitude with his new Muppet friends.

In addition to the commercial, the Muppets will be traveling to the Super Bowl in their very own Highlander and will be live tweeting their wild ride. Anyone can be a part of the fun by tweeting @Toyota or using the hashtag #NoRoomForBoring.

Check out the commercial for yourself and get ready for some fun and laughs during the premiere of this spot on Super Bowl Sunday as well.

Toyota FT-1 Concept Wows at Detroit Auto Show

Toyota FT-1 Concept Car

The Toyota FT-1 Concept Car Turning Heads at the Detroit Auto Show

The North American International Auto Show in Detroit is like the Academy Awards of the auto industry; everyone who is anyone will be there, only the attendees are gawking at out-of-this-world cars instead of dresses.

As such, car manufacturers strive to make sure the new models and concept cars they release in Detroit are good ones, really good ones. But to say that Toyota pulled out all the stops is to be modest. What they presented was simply put, beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

Enter the Toyota FT-1 Concept Car. Just by looking at it, you can tell it’s unlike anything you’ve seen from Toyota in years. First of all, it’s a sports car and a darn good looking one at that.

Together with Calty Design, Toyota spent nearly two years on what they call a “dream mission” for the ultimate Toyota sports car. We think it was definitely worth the wait.

As Calty Design Research President Kevin Hunter explains, “Beyond its obvious five-alarm visual impact, FT-1 is symbolic of a new chapter for Toyota Global Design. This provocative concept truly captures the passion, excitement, and energy of the Toyota we are evolving into…and embodies elements of the emotion and performance that Toyota will imprint upon future production designs.” Indeed, as the “F” in FT-1 stands for “Future Toyota.”

We could do our best to describe what the FT-1 Concept looks like, how cool and modern it is, how much we want to jump in a take it for a spin, but as they say, a picture is worth a thousand; the photos speak for themselves.

Toyota Debuts Fuel Cell Concept Car, Achieving a 310-Mile Range

Toyota FCV Concept Car

The Toyota FCV Concept Car at the Detroit Auto Show

For years, the automotive industry has been preoccupied with the issue of fuel cost and fuel conservation; there’s no getting around the fact that fuel will become scarce one day and while we wait, the supply we have just keeps getting more expensive.

For a while, we found a solution in hybrid and electric cars, hybrids offering greater fuel efficiency and electrics delivering complete independence from fuel. Of course, both have drawbacks: hybrids still need gas and electrics can only drive so long before they need a recharge.

But alas, there is another technology out there, looming in the back of all auto manufacturers minds, a technology that Toyota has fearlessly taken the plunge and embraced: hydrogen power.

Just a few days ago, Toyota revealed their Fuel Cell Concept Vehicle (FCV) to the US at the 2014 Consumer Electronics Show. Not only does the FCV require no gasoline, it can run for 310 miles before it needs a fill-up. Now that’s something to get excited about. What’s more, it only takes roughly 3 minutes to fill up and is promised to reach speeds over 100 mph.

And it’s efficient. What does that mean exactly? Well, as Bob Carter, Senior Vice President of Toyota Motor Sales puts it, A fuel cell is more efficient to operate than a gasoline engine; which means it requires less fuel… to travel the same distance…with zero emissions.”  That’s about as efficient as it gets.

So how does a Hydrogen fuel cell-powered car work, exactly? The FCV combines a propulsion system and two high-pressure hydrogen tanks, both of which are small enough to still allow for seating for four passengers. If the thought of a hydrogen vehicle kind of scares you, you might be comforted by the fact that the FCV has many of the same elements as the Toyota Hybrid powertrain. So just think of it as a more technologically advanced Prius…close enough.

While the Toyota FCV isn’t exactly production ready, Toyota says they plan to launch the new model in 2015. In addition, Toyota has been doing several road tests across the country in both hot and cold climates to see how the hydrogen car holds up and to show the US what it’s all about.

You won’t be getting behind the wheel of the Toyota FCV anytime soon, but stay tuned. We can’t wait to see what the future holds.

2014 Toyota SiennaSure, we all know what minivans are good for: families and their ever-growing store of cargo. But minivans are so much more than that. These days, you can experience the amenities of a luxury vehicle, the thrill of a sport-tuned car, even good fuel economy all from a minivan. That is, if you opt for the 2014 Toyota Sienna.

The Toyota Sienna has long been a top choice in the minivan segment and it surely doesn’t disappoint for the 2014 model year. From the ultra-sporty SE trim to the top of the line Limited, the 2014 Sienna jumps light-years ahead of the competition. And with seating for up to 8 passengers, an unheard of 150 cubic feet of maximum cargo space, and an available rear-seat entertainment system, the Sienna remains the ultimate family vehicle.

In addition, the Sienna handles well and offers an enjoyable ride quality, while still securing some impressive fuel economy numbers.

2. The SE Trim:

Minivans aren’t exactly known for their sporty driving dynamics and aggressive styling. However, you will get just that with the 2014 Sienna SE. This sport-inspired trim comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, a unique grille, lower-body skirting, a sport-tuned suspension, and more responsive power steering.

3. The Versatility:

Toyota Certified Tales of the Uncertified

Some would argue that there is nothing scarier than the unknown. When it comes to buying a used car, we couldn’t agree more.

Sure, buying used is an affordable and economical option, but the inevitable series of questions and doubts are sure to enter your head: has it been in an accident? Are there damages I don’t know about? What is that stain in the back seat from? Seriously, what is that stain!? With a used car, the unknown can be haunting.

But alas, worry not for there is a solution to this nightmare: buying a Toyota Certified Used Vehicle, of course! When you choose a certified used car, you can rest assured that there won’t be any surprises creeping up; the scary world of the unknown disappears.

In order to illustrate this point more effectively, Toyota has championed a campaign entitled, “Certified Tales of the Uncertified.” These entertaining bits show just how wise it is to choose a Certified Used Toyota:
