Attention race fans! Toyota has just announced that they will enter the new 2015 Toyota Tundra Pro Series in the 47th annual Baja 1000 race. This motorsports event takes place each year in Ensenada, Mexico during November.
If you are reading this asking yourself (or your computer) what Baja 1000 is, then read on! The Baja 1000 is an off-road race that runs along the Baja California peninsula. The race itself varies in length from 600 miles to just under 1000 miles. There are many different divisions and all types of vehicles can enter. The race began in the early 1970s and it has gained popularity since its birth.
For the Toyota Tundra, this race is an important step for research and development. Mike Sweers, the Chief Engineer of Toyota Pickup Trucks talks about the importance of the race for consumers. “With over 1,000 miles of harsh terrain, the Baja 1000 is the ultimate proving grounds for [R&D] that helps [Toyota] continuously improve [its] trucks.” Toyota is hoping that insights from this race will allow the Toyota Tundra to exceed drivers’ expectations in the future.
We are excited to see how the 2015 Toyota Tundra Pro Series displays its strength and durability against the rough Mexican peninsula terrain.
