Good things come in small packages, and that remains true with the 2015 Scion FR-S. A creation of Toyota and Subaru co-development, the model is similar to the Subaru BRZ. They share the same platform, powertrain, and exterior/interior components. The difference lies in minor styling details and features.
The FR-S is powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter Boxer engine. The 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque makes its way to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission (paddle shifters on the steering wheel included). Standard features include 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, power windows and mirrors, Bluetooth phone and audio, and a touchscreen.
The Scion FR-S comes in a single trim level with no fancy factory options. Instead, Scion offers dealer-installed accessories like audio systems, different wheels, performance engine, and suspension parts. Inside, the car comes with bucket seats in the front and what is essentially cargo room in the back.
If you aren’t carrying more than two people and want a little speed without the costly sports car price, the 2015 Scion FR-S is the car for you. While not what’s considered a classic sports car, the FR-S proves there’s much more to a sports car than power.
