Toyota Green Car Sales Exceed 7 Million

Toyota Green Car Sales

If you have been seeing many more hybrids out on the road lately, it wasn’t just your mind playing tricks on you. Toyota has officially announced that, since the Toyota Prius release in Japan 1997, sales for this hybrid model have exceeded 7 million.

What’s more, Toyota green car sales outrank other automakers in the industry. According to Toyota Product Chief Karl Schlicht stated that “Toyota’s hybrid drivetrain technology is far from reaching its peak…Toyota is moving into a new wave of hybrid technology that’s more efficient [than] ever, sportier than ever and more appealing to mainstream buyers.”

This is great to hear that although Toyota will be releasing the first mass-produced hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle soon, their focus remains strong with the Prius and hybrid technology. We are sure that the trend towards this technology will continue to grow and increase Toyota sales.

Are you interested in driving Toyota green car sales just a little bit higher? Stop by Dick Dyer Toyota today and check out our lineup of Toyota Prius vehicles.

Toyota is Set to Roll Out Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Vehicle in San Francisco

Breaking News! Toyota has made an announcement that hey are set to roll out their fuel-cell sedan during the annual American Chemical Society gathering in San Francisco.

The fuel-cell vehicle is set to hit the market next year, and will run completely on hydrogen. Although it seems that it can be a little pricier in comparison to traditional gas vehicles, the hydrogen fuel-cell vehicle will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and the cars themselves will solely produce water as exhaust.

When it is released in Japan, the car is expected to cost about $68,500, however, Toyota has not set its price for the United States yet. Along with lack of a price, the car also lacks a name (for now.)

Here at Dick Dyer Toyota, we are excited about where the car industry is going. There are now alternatives to the gas-guzzling giants that once dominated the market. Although there is not much information yet, we look forward to hearing what Toyota plans for their fuel-cell vehicle. Want to know more? 2015 Toyota Tundra to Enter Baja 1000 This November

Toyota Tundra

Attention race fans! Toyota has just announced that they will enter the new 2015 Toyota Tundra Pro Series in the 47th annual Baja 1000 race. This motorsports event takes place each year in Ensenada, Mexico during November.

If you are reading this asking yourself (or your computer) what Baja 1000 is, then read on! The Baja 1000 is an off-road race that runs along the Baja California peninsula. The race itself varies in length from 600 miles to just under 1000 miles. There are many different divisions and all types of vehicles can enter. The race began in the early 1970s and it has gained popularity since its birth.

For the Toyota Tundra, this race is an important step for research and development. Mike Sweers, the Chief Engineer of Toyota Pickup Trucks talks about the importance of the race for consumers. “With over 1,000 miles of harsh terrain, the Baja 1000 is the ultimate proving grounds for [R&D] that helps [Toyota] continuously improve [its] trucks.” Toyota is hoping that insights from this race will allow the Toyota Tundra to exceed drivers’ expectations in the future.

We are excited to see how the 2015 Toyota Tundra Pro Series displays its strength and durability against the rough Mexican peninsula terrain.

A Camry Sold Every Minute in May: A Testament to the Value of a Camry

2014 Toyota Camry Black

The Always Popular Camry Reigned Supreme in May

The Toyota Camry is the best-selling car in America. It has been for years, decades even, so this statement probably comes as no surprise. But can you conceptualize just how many Camry’s must be sold every year/month/day in order to reach this milestone of best-selling car?

Well, May sales of the Toyota Camry certainly paint a pretty good picture of how the Camry remains the best-selling car. In the month of May, a Toyota Camry was sold every minute. That’s right – every 60 seconds someone drove their very own Camry off the lot in May. At the end of the month, the Camry boasted 49,584 units sold, bringing sales up 26%.

Those figures alone are pretty impressive, but let’s take it a step further. For the Camry’s entire history, monthly sales have reached 50,000 units only four times. Simply put, May was a pretty big month for the tried and true Camry.

But really, we expect nothing less. Few cars even come close to the reliability and safety provided by the Camry. It was given a 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA, placed on US News and World Report’s “Best Midsize Car for the Money” list, and appeared on Edmunds’ “Most Popular” list.

2014 Toyota Camry Features and Specs

Speaking to reliability, of all 10.3 million Camrys sold in the last 31 years, over 6.7 million are still being driven today. The Camry not only provides top of the line features, the best in safety, and competitive gas mileage, but it also sets the standard for reliability and longevity.

A Camry is more than a car; it’s a lifestyle choice, a member of the family. As Bob Carter, vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. puts it, “It’s America’s best-selling car, but more important is the one Camry in the customer’s driveway…the one Camry you trust to be reliable and help keep your family safe.” We like to think the people who drive Camrys are the best kind of people. But hey, we are allowed to be a little biased, right?

The All-New and Completely Redesigned 2015 Toyota Camry

The Toyota Camry has long been the best-selling car in America. For 12 years to be exact. From its safety to its reliability to its comfort, the Camry is an all around winner. So when Toyota set out to design the all-new 2015 model, they had a lot on their plates. They had to figure out how to make one of the most popular cars in the world even better.

Let’s just say they did just that and then some. Bill Fay, Group Vice President and General Manager at Toyota Motor Sales introduced the 2015 Toyota Camry at the New York Auto Show. He began by explaining that the new Camry is just one part of Toyota’s greater mission to “Make Better Cars.” And not just “better” in the sense that these are cars you should buy. Toyota is striving to make better cars that you want to buy.

The 2015 Toyota Camry is certainly better and almost completely redesigned. In fact, Toyota used about 2,000 new parts in manufacturing the 2015 Camry and the only part that remains unchanged is the roof. Some of the new features include a wireless charging pad for smartphones, tapered LED taillights, blind-spot monitors, and adaptive cruise control.
