During a recent gathering of some of the most influential Hispanic journalists in the world, Toyota showcased the future of mobility. Displaying the first commercially-available hydrogen-powered car in the world, the Mirai, Toyota made quite a stir at the 2015 Excellence in Journalism Conference.
So why a conference for journalists? Toyota was asked to put together an automotive display for the conference, showcasing the future of the industry. Visitors to the conference had a chance to see the Mirai up close and personal, as well as a chance to learn about the Mirai’s features from a product specialist.
“As a long-time supporter of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, it gives us great pleasure to share with this wonderful group the latest in automotive innovation as we help facilitate discourse on how Latinos are adding their much-needed voices to the journalism landscape in this country,” stated Patricia Salas Pineda, group vice president of Toyota’s Hispanic Business Strategy Group.
The hydrogen-powered Toyota Mirai can be completely refueled in 5 minutes, has an EPA-estimated range of 312 miles, and gets about 67 MPGe. Perhaps best of all, the Mirai only emits water, and in an emergency can power a small house for up to a week.
